My makeup is sliding off, separating or pillingUpdated a month ago

We're here to help!

First, let's look at some reasons why these issues can happen;

Using too many products — or applying too much of them—limits the ability of the skin to absorb them, resulting in pilling or makeup not sitting right. If you find this is happening with your makeup, take a look at the amount of products you're using. Then, either reduce the amount of products you're using or start with using a little less to see if it improves.

Not taking enough time between application (skincare>foundation) Sometimes, your products need time to absorb. Skincare tends to be okay to apply one after the other, but try to allow a couple of minutes between your moisturiser and applying your primer, foundation or complexion products.

Using the wrong combination of products

If your primer is silicone based, and your foundation is water based, this can cause separation.  Make sure your base matches - i.e. Water based primer + water based foundation.

Not using products suited to your skin type

If you have oily skin, using a primer like Beauty Base Oil Control, along with a matte or satin foundation (like Second Skin Matte or Satin Silk) may help control shine and prevent makeup from melting off.

If you have dry skin, try to use products that are hydrating or have a sheer/dewy finish, like Hydratint, Tint and Glow, or Second Skin Dewy. Hydrate and Hold is also amazing to use before and after your makeup application to add extra Hydration.

If you have combination skin, Velvet Veil loose powder and Beauty Base Oil Control will be your best friend. Make sure to add moisture to any dry areas, and add oil control to any oily areas. For example, you could start with using Beauty Base Oil Control on your T-Zone (or wherever you find gets oily), and Beauty Base Protect everywhere else. Then after applying your preferred foundation, add a light dusting of Velvet Veil Loose Powder in the T-Zone to really lock it in!
